Notice of Kyoto City accommodation tax revision
Effective from 1 March 2026

Thank you for your continued patronage of Candeo Hotels Kyoto Karasuma Rokkaku.

Please be informed that the Kyoto City accommodation tax will be revised effective from stays on or after 1 March 2026.
The revised tax rates and exemption threshold will apply regardless of the reservation or payment date, if the stay begins on or after this date.

Before the revision (Applicable until 28 February, 2026)

Accommodation tax per person, per night:
• Less than JPY 6,000 – JPY 200
• JPY 20,000 to less than JPY 50,000 – JPY 500
• JPY 50,000 and above – JPY 1,000

After the revision (Applicable from 1 March, 2026)

Accommodation tax per person, per night:
• Less than JPY 6,000 – JPY 200
• JPY 6,000 to less than JPY 20,000 – JPY 400
• JPY 20,000 to less than JPY 50,000 – JPY 1,000
• JPY 50,000 to less than JPY 100,000 – JPY 4,000
• JPY 100,000 and above – JPY 10,000

Items subject to the accommodation tax (Included in the room rate)
• Room charge (without meals)
• Service charge associated with the room rate

Items not subject to the accommodation tax (Not Included in the room rate)
• Consumption tax
• Charges for services not related to accommodation (e.g. meals, laundry, parking fees)

Due to the tax revision, if your stay includes nights both before and after 1 March 2026, the accommodation tax will be applied according to the respective rates for each date. Kindly be aware that the total tax amount may differ from the usual calculation.
